Unfortunately the triplets (two boys and a girl) were born about 2 months early, although at the time we thought it was 3 months early.
The triplets were unlikely to survive -about 1% chance of all three living, let alone being healthy. Nicola was fine, but traumatised.
---
Shortly after finding this out, my grandparents came over, and gave us an update:
The triplets were further along than we originally thought, so they had a much higher chance of surviving, and being healthy.
They were quite healthy, and not on ventilators, but in closed cots, where oxygen can be pumped in when they need it, so their lungs were fine. My cousin was allowed to put her fingers in the case for them to hold.
The smallest boy was given the least chance of survival, so he was named straight away -he's called William.
---
A few weeks after this we saw my aunt, who gave us more news.
The triplets are called William, Jonathan, and Emily. They were very small -just over the length of a hand, with very skinny arms and legs.
William has been under blue light, because his organs werent ready to work, so it breaks down the toxins.
Nothing drastic had happened, and as long as they didn't get an infection then things were looking good.
Since then, William has come out from the blue light.
---
Yesturday we went to my Nana's house, and my aunt was there. She gave us some news on the babies.
They were 9 weeks old yesturday. Jonathan (the biggest) is just under 4 pounds now, and the other two are about 3 pounds (they were born at around 1 pound). They are a lot bigger now, and look a lot more like babies -not so skinny
William has a detached retina that could cause blindness, but theyre doing an operation to stop this. Apart from that they seem to be completely healthy. They are out of all immediate danger.
They have dark hair and blue eyes atm, although this can change. Nicola can hold them all now. They arent even really red anymore
Jonathan and Emily are out of closed cots, into open top ones, although William is still in a closed one.
Im not sure if theyre all still at Nottingham hospital, because I know that Jonathan was moved to Licoln. The journey was quite stressful for him -he wasnt on a ventilator before, but had to go on one when he got there, although he's off it now. Thats why im not sure that theyd have risked it with William and Emily.
---
They are mostly out of danger now, they just need to gain weight.
With luck they will be out of hospital by Christmas.
I was sent some pictures of them, which I've put together, and will upload in a minute.
